Happiness is to be found when in pursuit of it, in the soothed expectation, on the way, not only upon the arrival. Accepting detours, just going the way, which is anyhow not this obvious to anyone.

Happiness is just a hairflip away.

"The way the system works now, you see the clothes, within an hour or so they're online, the world sees them. They don't get to a store for six months. The next week, young celebrity girls are wearing them on red carpets. They're in every magazine. The customer is bored with those clothes by the time they get to the store. They're overexposed, you're tired of them, they've lost their freshness".

Model : Aleks Ashafi

Albanian model Aleksander Ashafi, 26, was born in Greece and grew up there until 8 then moved with his family to the United States. He's currently based on the East Coast, mostly Philadelphia and New York City. In a recent casual conversation, he told me he attempted to try modeling first when he was 20. At that time, he was going to college, which didn't correspond with his modeling schedule, so he had to put it on hold. At that point, he thought he wasn't ready for the industry or for NYC. However after graduating, he wanted to give it another shot. "I really like the fact that modeling sends you all over the country. I like to travel and modeling is the perfect opportunity to see the world and make some money on the side. I also love the fact that I developed a better sense of style and art through modeling. Learning what looks good and why has made me more social and the women appreciate it as well. Also I love how many people I get to meet and relationships I have build through modeling", he said. But Aleks has no fave label. "I dress simple and if I see something that I think I can make an outfit from then to me it doesn't matter what brand it is", he highlighted. "Sometimes I look great with a simple medium white Hanes tee-shirt, some Levi's jeans and Timberland boots. To me fit is more important than brands. Some of my favorites if I have to think are Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani, and Tommy Hilfiger", he added. And as a matter of course, he would love to work on a major campaign with a top label, land a commercial, go to Paris or Milan, and hopefully get a foot into the acting industry. After working with Tabio Socks, and Great Shoes, he's got a job coming on for Puma, plus another one in Mexico for an advertisement for the tourists. And other than that, Aleks plays chess, speaks three languages, loves history, video games and cooking. Sportswise, it's martial arts, boxing, basketball and soccer. Aleksander's bottom line is sound advice : "I've tried modeling twice before. Both times i became discouraged and gave up. Now that I am older and have more perserverance, I can stick with modeling this time. I had to sacrifice alot to be able to do this and it's still an uncertain path. But if you stick to whatever it is you want to do and be patient, there's a good chance you'll achieve whatever it is you want to do. And if not, then the journey will make you a stronger and more resilient person. Dealing with rejection in this industry can be devastating to someone's self-esteem. But you survive all those rejections and finally get a job, you realize it's okay to get rejected and so you learn how to deal with rejection. you become more resilient". Definitely more than just a pretty face.
