Lestat : Who is Jakub Eliáš ?
Jakub : I come from a small town called Lišov in South Bohemia. I grew up there and that is where I went to primary school as well. Then I decided to attend the Tourism & Hotel Service High School in České Budějovice. Just about one year ago, I moved to Prague to study economics at the university but I had to make a break due to modeling duties with PH Models Prague. I plan to go back and take a degree, of course. I am 20 and I hope I will be 20 for several upcoming years. My modeling beginnings were rather fun and it was not really my idea to try. I have had a friend who used to do some modeling. She sent some of my pictures to her agency and they invited me to do my first casting. It was more than one and a half year ago but I started to work more just about half a year ago.
Lestat : How do you feel about modeling ? What do you like most in it ?
Jakub : It really depends on how I like the world of modeling. On people who you work with, the job concept... but I've been liking it so far ! What I prefer the most are the advantages of being a model, while partying or getting clothes after some shows.
Lestat : What’s a working day like ?
Jakub : My busy day usually is about waking up very soon, getting ready (one needs to shave, take a shower, make your hair...), then shooting all day long, eating very few things and then falling asleep in the very first minute thereafter. And my days off are about organizing stuff I couldn't when working, being with my family and friends...
Lestat : Who / what inspires you most in life in general ?
Jakub : The most inspiring persons for me are Anna Wintour and Jon Kortajarena. Other than that, I also like food, some more food and traveling.
Lestat : How was your latest assignment ?
Jakub : My very last job in Jakarta, Indonesia was the cover and fashion spread of the Apple mag iCreate. It was extremely exhausting, it took at least 13 hours. But my fave job so far was a shoot with five girls -it was so fun we were laughing all time long and we had a blast.
Lestat : What would be the perfect next assignment like ?
Jakub : I've just started working on Prague Fashion Week that'll take place at the end of the month, but I´d like to go to China or Tokyo asap.
Lestat : Do you travel a lot ? Do you feel homesick sometimes ?
Jakub : I love to travel and I try to travel as much as I can. I can easily be fed up with home so I try to get away as often as possible, even for a weekend or so. I like exploring new places !
Lestat : What are your projects ? What will be the next step ?
Jakub : Prague Fashion Week as I said, then one stylist´s portfolio and China or Tokyo in the aftermath.
Lestat : Is love important to you ?
Jakub : Yes, I do think so. Sometimes just too much.
Lestat : What do you wear to bed ?
Jakub : My sleeping shorts. I like to feel my space in bed.
Lestat : Do you spend much time on the Internet ?
Jakub : It depends. I can´t get connected simply so often while having people and work around. But yes, I am kinda addicted.
Lestat : Answer the question you’d like to be asked.
Jakub : I am a bit sorry that everyone ask me how I am and stuff, but none of the journalists ever ask what I dream about, whether I like coffee or tea and I could continue ! So... I had a dream about Jon Kortajarena -he was a waiter. I feel kinda blue as I just find out that I won't see my mum for the next two weeks and I actually drink coffee and tea. But not too often as it's not exactly good for teeth.
Lestat : Díky, Jakube ! Děkuji také mému příteli Michalovi, který pomohl s tímto rozhovorem.
