After graduating from Athens School of Fine Arts in 1992, Angelos Frentzos started working as a print designer for textile companies in Greece. At the same time, he teamed up with Sofia Kokosalaki to create a collection of conceptual / experimental garments based on attitudes and moods of the New Age music era. And after a graduation in fashion design from Central St Martins in London, Angelos Frentzos initiated the prepartion of his first real collection in 1999. He launched his label from Milan in 2001 and started menswear the next year. For this season, the collection entitled "Life savers" focuses on an American road-trip vibe interlaced with late 80s grunge rock music. Angelos Frentzos imagined a group of tough guys traveling across the American landscape to the sound of Nirvana or Joy Division, from freezing cold Alaska to sun-drenched Los Angeles -something very far from the story behind his previous collection (here). They are life savers with a mission to accomplish. As the journey is long, their dress code is functional and comfortable. The guys wear layers of clothes so that they can adjust to the changeable weather and make a distinctive fashion statement simultaneously. Double jersey pants are worn together with mohair shorts. Their outerwear has a great diversity of woolen fleece capes, parachute bombers and handcrafted knit cardigans. Intensity of colors and folk prints fused with the feel of a relaxed elegance. The collection is for the contemporary nomad, free and relaxed, forging his own way with his own rules. There is a reference to a trip to Alaska mountain climbing as seen in vintage photographs. Examples can be found in the Nordic old sweater motif with a print on jersey giving the illusion of knitwear fit for a chalet, Winter landscapes are printed on parachute bombers, jackets and trousers, the double shorts are cut in precious and soft mohair. This silent imaginary of cold landscapes changes when the adventure stops in LA. Shells are embroidered on vibrant colored tees and pants, full black covering oversize glam tees studded in silver and gold. Past and future are deeply intertwined, the rock'n'roll attitude, the Goth character comes from the background to make the past look clean, without loosing an ironic touch.
