Raff by A R Harvey
Half Scot, half Italian singer Raff seems to have been blessed with the best of both his ancestries. Combining the subtle complexities of Scottish song writing with the natural groove and danceability of Italy, he delivers a tasty slice of electrified pop music with his latest single "Soul electric". The track is driven by visceral guitar riffs, a pounding beat and a surging vocal performance that provides the narrative. The guitar brings the rhythm whilst the vocals wash the song with melody. Big 80s-influenced synths swash over the top as the intensity rises until a matured breakdown paves the way for the track to spill for one final time.
Initially seduced by the sounds of classic soul artists like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, the London-based artist now fuses his love of soul with an addictive fist-pumping electro sound for a modern audience on his EP. A fast-rising talent with a knack for delivering top-notch electro-pop-soul, Raff is quite simply all about electro with added soul. Delightful !
