Tailored clothing may be getting short shrift on many Milan runways, but Canali flexed its sartorial muscle in a show of sharply tailored suits and topcoats for this season, heralding a return to better financial times. Maybe not how models typically dress but certainly how dapper Italian men often do. Lush scarves knotted, looped, and tucked into wool topcoats, sports jackets and suits, silk neckerchiefs with stiff open-collar dress shirts, and because he needs something to wear on his weekend jaunt to St Moritz, a creamy-white fur-collared parka. Canali envisioned plenty of time for relaxing with more supple silhouettes such as chunky cable-knit sweaters in natural tones and elegant easy-to-wear sports jackets.
