Belgian designer Dirk Bikkembergs related his trip to Australia where he discovered the work of a local artist. Enthralled by what he found, a hurriedly arranged meeting between the two resulted in the elaboration of art pieces which would influence the new Bikkembergs Sport Couture collection, as seen in the numbers prominently displayed on the pieces and in the silhouettes. Bikkembergs began the show with an onslaught of 'Thriller' red suits in jerseys and knits, accessorized with huge totes. His denim street suit and sleeveless leather pieces in perforated leather also appeared in this red, which recalled of the glory days of late King of Pop Michael Jackson. But all similarities between this collection and the defunct star stop there. The designer added whites and blues, which brandished the numbers of which he spoke about, using them in his short sleeve knit top with square cut neck line. This Sport Couture line also featured fitted leather shirts in red, brown and black. And of course, it would be remiss of one to think that Dirk Bikkembergs could possibly neglect the nightlife aspect of his creation. For the occasion, he designed black tuxes in sparkle silks. Some are done in red of course, but with black lapels.
