Born and raised in Israel, Yigal Azrouël taught himself design by experimenting with vintage clothing in a cramped basement apartment in Queens before Barneys New York started buying his work. As per usual, menswear reflected Yigal Azrouël’s nomadic, beach-comber lifestyle for this season's collection. There were more wovens and tailored pieces in the mix now, but still without a trace of formality. Trousers and shorts had rolled cuffs and fold-over waists and were pieced out of mixed media, sometimes to create the illusion of layers. Azrouël’s mens formula has changed little in a few seasons, but this is no time to mess with it. The signature style -the languid and disheveled layers, all washed and rumpled- is now more on-trend than ever.
