American 5-piece indie boyband Young Lords thought they were going to be a country band. But they were wrong. The NYC-based scuzzlers and Austin expats began writing songs acoustically in their apartments, because they lacked the gear to plug into. They went electric though, realizing they were more Fun House than Sweetheart of the Rodeo, more Beggar's Banquet than Honky Tonk Heroes.Lead singer Blair van Nort and guitarist bro Reed van Nort met bassist Maxwell Kamins and drummer Brion Isaacs during nights on the town and enlisted guitarist Adam Gerard after meeting in classes at the New School University.
Young Lords début full-length, "Rodeo Songs", is kind of a whisky drenched album full of not-quite blues and not-quite R&B, but plenty of old fashion sex-infused rock'n'roll.
