Parts of a giant, exquisitely carved marble sculpture depicting the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius (April 26, 121 – March 17, 180) have just been found at an archaeological site in Western Turkey. Fragments of the statue of the last of the so-called "good emperors" and one of the most prominent Stoic philosophers was unearthed in a Roman-era bath in Salagassos by a team of Belgian and Turkish excavators.Tweet this!
