Seiichiro Shimamura could be the secret lovechild of an absurd love affair between Patty Smith and Arthur Rimbaud. He has ended up in Paris, heaven knows how, designing clothes under the ambiguous name of 0044 (four is a very unlucky number in Japan, it is pronounced "shi" and also means ‘death’, so why not replicate it ? ). In his work, a decadent aestheticism and an electrifying romanticism are entwined in a deadly embrace. An imaginary world populated by men with top hats, ringmaster waistcoats, and skin-tight pants, all with an abundant dose of black. Born in Tokyo, and stateless for some time, Shimamura set up home in Paris in 2003, and the following year initiated the world to the fatal pleasures of 0044. Resolute and obsessive, he personally manages every detail of the collection, including the design of the theatrical boutique in the very heart of Paris and the choice of the music.
